Our updated terminology guide provides allies and LGBTQIA2S+ folks alike an overview of some of the most popular words used in the community, from gender identities to sexual orientations and more. This guide was put together with feedback from OUT Maine’s Youth Advisory Board, a group of young leaders who advise on our programming and content. Also includes a section dedicated to trans-focused terminology. This is a free digital product with unlimited downloads!

A note about terminology:​ The language we use to discuss identity is constantly changing. Although we have attempted to include as many general terms as we can that are relevant to LGBTQ+ youth, new terms are always appearing and the usage of existing terms is evolving. The best approach is to ask youth themselves which terms they prefer and what those terms mean to them.
