Blue Hill Peninsula Pride

June 15 @ 10:00 am - 5:00 pm

Free

BLUE HILL – The Blue Hill Peninsula is celebrating Pride during the week of June 10-15, with displays, events, and activities throughout the week.

On Monday, June 10 at 6:30 PM, Peninsula Pride and the Blue Hill Public Library will sponsor a lecture, “Blue Hill’s Boston Marriages,” held at the library. Ann Boudreaux and Hannah Cyrus will share stories about prominent couples Adelaide Pearson & Laura Paddock, Lynne Thompson & Dorothy Heywood, and Mary Ellen Chase & Eleanor Duckett.

Local businesses in Blue Hill and around the peninsula will be creating displays and offering promotions throughout the week, so keep your eyes peeled for rainbows all around, celebrating and affirming community members of all genders and sexualities.

A family-friendly celebration will be held on Saturday, June 15th, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the First Congregational Church of Blue Hill at 22 Tenney Hill. Festivities will feature free food, live music, and a rainbow of activities for kids and teens! Celebrate the LGBTQIA+ community with this all-ages event including crafts, giveaways, and opportunities for advocacy. Decorate a pride flag or create a rainbow ribbon-dancer, enjoy a hummus wrap or hot dog, and win prizes donated by local businesses and organizations.

At the conclusion of the celebration at 1 PM, everyone is invited to join in a sidewalk march from the church to the town park. Bring along signs and wear your best Pride regalia to show your support for the queer community.

Peninsula Pride is a community-organized event sponsored by local businesses and organizations. We particularly wish to thank the First Congregational Church of Blue Hill and WERU for their support. For more information, please contact bluehillpeninsulapride@gmail.com.
