OUT Maine is working with the Center for Maine Contemporary Art (CMCA)\, Rock City Cafe in Rockland\, and MCHT’s Erickson Fields Preserve in Rockport to share LGBTQIA2S+ and allied youth and young adults’ artwork in midcoast Maine during Pride Month (June)! This training will provide participants with an overview of terminology\, rights\, and laws regarding the support and protection of queer and trans youth. We’ll focus on how to create a welcoming and supportive workplace and/or public community setting\, and how to back up that “safe space” sticker and rainbow flag with real\, tangible actions. \nCEU certificates and CME/CEU credits will be available by request. SUMMARY:Quilt Raffle Drawing at Waterfall Arts
DESCRIPTION:Photo by AND AGAIN \nIn honor of Pride Month\, artist Susie Brandt has sewn an original 84X84 inch Rainbow Quilt for a raffle to benefit the statewide LGBTQIA2S+ youth organization OUT Maine. \nSusie’s art is in the permanent collections of the Philadelphia Museum of Art\, the Museum of International Folk Art in Santa Fe\, and the Albany Institute of History and Art\, among others. Susie recently worked with 4H youth to create a Color Quilt Project hanging in the Renwick Gallery of the Smithsonian American Art Museum. Unused fabric from this quilt makes up the squares of the Rainbow Quilt!​ \nThe quilt will be on display at Waterfall Arts in Belfast between May 25-June 23rd. If you go to Waterfall Arts by between June 5th and 12th\, be sure to also see the Transmissions Quilt & Poetry Exhibition in the gallery!
