Best Practices for Working with LGBTQ+ Youth & Families For Mental Health Providers & Other Direct Support Professionals

March 31 @ 9:00 am - 5:00 pm

$150

This day-long training is for mental health providers, case managers, residential workers, school nurses, social workers, and any professional providing direct support for youth. This training is broken into four sections – an introduction of terminology, risk and protective factors, laws and rights, and an overview of best practices, followed by extensive sections focusing on the provider, direct support of youth, and navigating family systems.

This training is trauma-informed, strength-based, and offers CEUs. This training will be co-facilitated by Maura Oakes who is an LCPC and OUT Maine’s Mental Health Coordinator, and August Sender who is OUT Maine’s Training Coordinator and who has direct experience navigating the mental health services in Maine as a non-binary transgender individual.

Lunch, refreshments, and training materials will be provided. Attendance of the previous day’s half-day training, or extensive experience working with LGBTQ+ youth is recommended – but not required – for this training.
