OUT!...As I Want to Be is an organization for Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgendered, Queer, and Questioning young people ages 14-22. We always welcome Straight Allies. Our meetings are held in Rockland, Maine : Wed. 5-8pm; and Fri. 6-9pm

OUT!...As I Want to Be is a network of young people and adult advisors that seeks to empower GLBTQ young people by providing affirmation, support, education, and advocacy. Our programs and activities are driven by the needs, ideas, and energy of youth, who participate fully in decision-making at every level. At our weekly meetings;
-make new friends
-see old friends
-talk
-laugh
-play games
-see movies
-learn about GLBTQ life
-discuss serious and not-so-serious issues
Most important, you can be yourself in a safe space! |

We often go to GLBTQ related conferences sponsored by state and national GLBTQ organizations, where we meet young people from other parts of Maine and the rest of the world. We attend dances, proms, and other social events for GLBTQ youth. We participate in activities promoting causes of concern to all GLBTQ people, such as equal rights and ending the scourge of AIDS.
We prepare to fulfill our destiny as the newest and greatest generation of Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgendered, and Queer citizens of Maine, America, and the World! |
